Privacy Policy

SpendMunk ("we," "our," or "us") is a personal budget planning mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when you use SpendMunk, how that information is used, and what choices are available to you.
1. Information We Collect or Process
Budget and planning data you enter: SpendMunk stores budgeting information such as expenses, income sources, recurring expenses, fixed bills, savings goals, pockets, balances, currency settings, and related planning data. This information is stored locally on your device and, in some cases described below, may also be transmitted to our backend services.
Anonymous app session data: Even if you do not create a named account, the app may create an anonymous Firebase authentication session and a unique app identifier so core app services can run.
Account information: If you choose to sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we may receive your email address, display name, authentication provider, and unique user identifier such as a Firebase UID.
Onboarding and budgeting data sent to backend services: After onboarding is completed, SpendMunk may transmit budgeting and profile-related data to our backend services. This may include country and currency settings, budget start date, balances, income setup, fixed and recurring bills, expenses, savings goals, pockets, premium status, and related summary information.
Usage, analytics, and attribution data: We may collect or send app usage data such as app opens, onboarding progress, paywall views, subscription events, and similar interaction events through analytics and attribution tools used by the app.
Advertising data: Free-tier users may be shown ads through Google AdMob. Advertising and attribution SDKs may receive device, app, and event information needed to serve ads, measure campaign performance, or understand app installs. On iOS, app tracking permission is requested before supported tracking-enabled features are allowed.
Subscription data: If you subscribe to SpendMunk Premium, subscription status and entitlement information are processed through RevenueCat and the relevant app store. We do not directly collect or store your full payment card number.
Notification permissions: If you allow notifications, the app may schedule local reminders and summaries on your device.
Approximate region lookups: The app may contact IP-based geolocation services to infer city or regional information used for app setup or profile-related features. Those providers may receive your IP address as part of that request.
2. How We Use Information
We use information processed through SpendMunk to:
- Provide and operate the budgeting features of the app
- Create and maintain anonymous or registered app sessions
- Store, sync, or process budgeting and onboarding data in our backend services
- Measure app usage, diagnose issues, and improve the product
- Show ads to free-tier users and measure advertising performance
- Process and restore Premium subscription access
- Send local reminders and summaries if you enable notifications
- Support security, fraud prevention, and service integrity
We do not sell your personal information for money. However, the app uses third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, authentication, and subscription tools that may process data as described in their own policies.
3. Third-Party Services
SpendMunk may use the following third-party services:
- Firebase Authentication - for anonymous sessions and account sign-in (Firebase Privacy)
- Firebase Realtime Database / Firebase services - for app, onboarding, and budgeting-related backend data storage and processing (Firebase Privacy)
- Firebase Analytics - for app analytics and event measurement (Firebase Privacy)
- RevenueCat - for subscription and entitlement management (RevenueCat Privacy)
- Google AdMob - for ad delivery to free-tier users (Google Privacy)
- Facebook SDK - for analytics and advertising attribution (Meta Privacy)
- TikTok SDK - for install attribution and campaign measurement (TikTok Privacy)
- IP geolocation providers - for approximate city or region lookup when used by the app
4. Tracking and iOS Permission
On iOS, SpendMunk requests App Tracking Transparency permission before enabling supported advertising-tracking or attribution features that require that permission. If you deny permission, certain tracking-enabled advertising features will remain disabled or limited. Free-tier users may still see ads, including non-personalized ads where supported.
5. Data Storage and Retention
Local storage: SpendMunk stores budgeting data on your device using local app storage.
Remote storage and processing: Some data may also be stored or processed by Firebase, RevenueCat, and other service providers described above. We keep data for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
We take reasonable steps to protect information, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You may have the following choices, depending on your device and how you use the app:
- Notifications: You can allow or deny notifications through your device settings.
- iOS tracking permission: On iPhone and iPad, you can allow or deny tracking permission and change it later in iOS Settings.
- Local app data: You can reset locally stored app data from within the app where that option is available.
- Subscriptions: You can manage or cancel your subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Deletion requests: To request deletion of account-related or server-side data, contact us at support@spendmunk.app.
7. Children's Privacy
SpendMunk is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly build the service to collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@spendmunk.app and we will review the request.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date above.
