Privacy Policy

SpendMunk ("we," "our," or "us") is a personal budget planning mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use SpendMunk.
1. Information We Collect
Without an account (Guest mode): SpendMunk works entirely on your device. We do not collect any personal information. Your budget data (expenses, income sources, pockets, goals) is stored locally on your device only.
With an account: If you choose to create an account using Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or email, we collect:
- Your email address
- Your display name (if provided by the sign-in provider)
- A unique user identifier (Firebase UID)
Cloud backup (optional, Premium feature): If you enable cloud backup, your budget data is stored in Firebase Firestore and is tied to your authenticated account. This data is only accessible by you.
Subscription data: If you subscribe to SpendMunk Premium, your subscription status is managed by RevenueCat and the respective app store (Google Play or Apple App Store). We do not directly collect or store payment information such as credit card numbers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the SpendMunk budgeting service
- Sync your budget data across devices if you opt into cloud backup
- Process and manage Premium subscriptions through RevenueCat and Google Play / Apple App Store
- Send optional budget reminders and notifications via local (on-device) notifications
- Display relevant ads to free-tier users through Google AdMob
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Third-Party Services
SpendMunk uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Firebase Authentication — for account creation and sign-in (Firebase Privacy)
- Firebase Firestore — for optional cloud backup storage (Firebase Privacy)
- RevenueCat — for subscription and in-app purchase management (RevenueCat Privacy)
- Google AdMob — for displaying ads to free-tier users (Google Privacy). Premium users see no ads.
4. Data Storage and Security
Local data: Your budget data is stored on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud backup.
Cloud data: If you enable cloud backup, your data is stored in Firebase Firestore. Access is restricted to your authenticated account through Firebase Security Rules. Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.
5. Children's Privacy
SpendMunk is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@spendmunk.app and we will promptly delete it.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Delete your account: You can delete your account and all associated cloud data from within the app (Account tab).
- Reset local data: You can clear all locally stored budget data from the Account screen at any time.
- Opt out of cloud backup: Cloud backup is an optional Premium feature. Your data remains local unless you explicitly choose to back it up.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Effective date" at the top. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
